Taste of the Town

The Radisson Hotel was all aglow on Friday, November 7th as supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters enjoyed the ultimate foodie experience with the 22nd annual Taste of the Town.  More than 20 elite caterers and restaurants showed off new and signature dishes to the delight of hungry guests.  This year featured a new layout and lots of new caterers from all over the area including Door County.

Individual Category Winners:

Best Appetizer: Thornberry Creek at Oneida, Crab Cakes

Best Soup/Salad:  The Marq, French Onion Soup

Best Side Dish:  Black & Tan Grille, Fresh Herb Root Vegetable Hash w/ Pumpkin-Spiced Shrimp

Best Entrée:  Radisson Hotel & Conference Center, Pork Ribeye w/ Apple and Cranberry Chutney

Best Dessert:  Gordon Lodge, Flourless Chocolate Cake w/ Caramel and Sea Salt

Peoples’ Choice:  Aurora Bay Care, Black & Bleu Steak Salad

Thank you to all of our supporters for making this such an amazing success.  This was the highest grossing event with over $133,000 raised to help support our matches.

All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin and its link to positive long-term outcomes for a positive future.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has a bold commitment toward transparent accountability for our outcomes, holding ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving results in three outcome areas: (1) Socio-Emotional Competence - Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships; (2) Avoidance of Risky Behaviors; and (3) Educational Success.

When compared with their peers, youth matched in our program showed:

·         97.9% improvement in Socio-Emotional Competence (social acceptance, parental trust, etc.)

·         88.8% improvement in Avoidance of Risky Behaviors (attitudes toward - drugs, hitting, etc.)

·         94.5% improvement in Educational Success (scholastic competency, grades, truancy, etc.)
