Letter from Executive Director

2010-06-01

As we approach the mid-point of the year, let's review how we're doing. Our Programs continue to be supported by high quality and match length, and we need to improve our 12-month retention rate (the percentage of matches that are still open one year after the initial match).

Information is through April 30:

In addition, we are on our way to achieving our goal of recruiting more male mentors for our Sports Buddies program and the "Bring MEN into MENtoring" campaign started in May to recruit more male mentors. Our goal was to have a 167% increase and we have already had a 67% increase.

Our Bowl For Kids’ Sake event was a lot of fun and we had more matches participate than prior years. We are excited to be moving the 2011 event to February (Feb. 26, 2011… save the date). Our Golf For Kids' Sake event is quickly approaching (June 14) and we anticipate another successful event. And Taste of the Town (Nov. 5) has already generated $53,700 in revenue and seats are going quickly.

Our fundraising efforts and new levels of giving have benefited our agency. We have many donors that have increased contributions, several new donors, and others that have remained the same. Donors have appreciated our message of impacting the lives of youth and continually improving the quality of our programs.

We also launched our first "Impacting Youth" annual campaign in May with a letter and contribution request to 1,300 individuals. We kept our promise and didn’t mail this to mentors as you already do so much. Please contact Joyce at joycea@bbbsnew.org if you’d like to receive this.

We will achieve our goals and impact lives if we continue to focus on recruiting quality mentors, enhancing match length, having successful events, and gaining caring donors. Thank you.
